The dumplings here are amazingly fresh and handmade. Shrimp dumplings were interesting, they had large chunks of shrimp in them which was unexpected but nice. But the steamed pork bao and cucumber salad are must-have's. Service is very fast, though we usually order to-go just because the place is small, and the ambience is more like you're in a kitchen than a restaurant, as you can hear and smell the steamers and fryers as everything is cooking. Great spot to get some comfort food to-go for a reasonable price (around $20 per person).

Dumplings are well prepared, fresh and tasty. They are similar to the boiled dumplings I have when visiting friends in mainland China. The service is very friendly. The pork shrimp and chives are my favorite. The pork shrimp and mushroom steam dumplings are very good also. The shrimp dumplings are the dim sum style and are good too. We tried the pork buns and they have a good tasting filling along with the soft chew of the bun. It's nice to have a good dumpling shop like this in the area.

Well this is about as homemade as dumplings come! Grandma up front rolling out the dough. We got one of each, steamed, boiled, fried. The boiled pork chive shrimp was our favorite. Lamb was delicious as well. Cucumber salad was yum yum!

This is a small family run place. Maybe it doesn't have ambiance, but the dumplings are consistently yummy and great value. The people there are friendly too, but sometimes it helps if you know a little mandarin. I think I've tried most of the items on the menu. The dumpling skins are medium thin (a bit thicker for the fried ones) and they're well filled. The ingredients aren't 'hidden away' in the filling, so if there's shrimp in it, you can see and taste the shrimp, you can see the pieces of mushroom and taste the flavor.... they're also not overly salty. The dumplings are great quality and you can tell they're made with care. Sometimes, you even get to see them fill the dumpling skins at the counter (filled by hand... appreciate the work).

Tucked into the shops near Chevron sits this quiet Dumpling House. There's a kiosk to order from but the staff suggested to just use the form and check off what you want. We ordered to go and chilled out at a table while they prepared our order. Took about 10 minutes and we e were on our way home. Food was still hot when we opened it and we had all the sauces, napkins and chopsticks needed to gorge. BBQ Pork - 8 Slightly sweet but flavorful. Some fat in the bun. Pork and Cabbage Boiled Dumpling - 9 Super tasty! Even better with soy sauce and malt vinegar dip! Braised Pork Pita Burger - 8 Toasted pita and pork rich in flavor but was a bit salty. We added some lettuce at home to cut the salt. Cabbage might make it amazing. Pork Shrimp and Mushroom Steamed Dumpling - 7 A tad n the fishy tasting side but still good Pork Soup Dumpling (XiaLongBao) 8 - A bit too much dough but the pork is tasty. Not much soup inside. Make sure to use the dipping sauce. Taro Bun - 6 Not a lot of flavor but there is taro up in there. Black Milk Tea 25% sweet - 8 very tea forward and not much sweetness which is a welcome sight as it's so sweet everywhere They were out of black boba though :( There was an odor to the place probably from the steamed food in the dining area that was unappetizing. We'd definitely come back but would get the food to go.

It is as if my prayers for handmade dumplings in Folsom were heard by the food gods when this place appeared on the scene. We came on a rainy Saturday morning around opening time; no wait except the time it takes to make delicious dumplings (10 minutes). I grew up in Taiwan so I'm quite used to top tier of this type of food. Both my husband and I came away with happy bellies! We hope they get the popularity they deserve and we will be amongst their supporters!

I realized a lot of the reviews for this location was for the business that was here prior to the Hometown Dumpling. So if u are reading reviews, keep that in mind. It looks like a family run business, they were all very friendly. The dumplings are made from scratch and were so very good! Their spring rolls were fresh too, we didn't ask if they hand made those as well, but they were better than any other deep fried spring roll we have tried. We will definitely be back to try other items in the menu. It's great that it's close to home as well.
